Nautical Tourism
Despite having a littoral of 7.367 kilometers of extension, 35.000
kilometers of navigable internal lanes, 9.260 kilometers of margins of
fresh water reservoirs, such as hydroelectric plants, lakes and
lagoons, besides the mild climate, Brazil still doesn't use its great
potential for nautical Tourism.
It's due, in part, to the prohibition until 1995 of coastwise shipping by foreigner ships. Such restriction inhibited the inclusion of Brazil in the route of foreigner shipowners. Only with the issuing of the Constitutional Amendment number 7/95, and with Embratur's intense work, coastwise shipping was liberated tourism vessels in the Brazilian littoral. The ports started to dedicate special areas for passengers' terminals and the segment became an object of tourism policies and other correlated ones.
