Golf Tourism
Bahia has four of the best golf courses in Brazil, located in hotels
set in paradisiacal places of the state's littoral: Costa do Sauípe,
Praia do Forte, Comandatuba and Trancoso. They are eighteen hole
courses, of international standards.
Salvador's north shore became a golf touristic destination. In April 2007, the courses of the resorts Costa do Sauípe and Iberostar hosted the Golf Bahia Open; participants from all over Brazil and abroad played simultaneously in two courses, separated by 18 kilometers.
Golf Tourism is responsible for a significant travel demand to Comandatuba Island. Due to having its own airport with capacity for big planes, the Transamérica Hotel frequently receives groups in regular and charter flights. In the south of Bahia there's another golf course, the Club Med, in Trancoso, at the top of a cliff, with a splendid view of the ocean. The Terravista Resorts, 5 kilometers away from Trancoso, has a golf course of international standard and an airport.
