The more than 365 Catholic churches in Salvador – one for each day of the year and some more – and the several Candomblé terreiros live together in perfect harmony. Saints are honored in masses and Christian holidays – each saint has a correspondent entity in the African religion – and celebrated in the streets in festival that blend the sacred and the profane.

The Portuguese architecture of the cathedrals, from the Baroque to the Neoclassic, and the choreographies of the Candomblé terreiros are other attractions, which give the tone of the unshakable faith of Bahia’s people in this true religious melting pot.
