During the times of the great navigations, Portugal was a pioneer of the globalization phenomenon, sailing towards the commercial amplitude, the conquest of new routes in search for food and spices. No doubt, the biggest influences of the varied Brazilian cuisine come from Portugal and Africa, with a touch of the Eastern and indigenous cultures. The cuisine inherited from Africa in Brazil may be described as adaptive and creative with ingredients, African or not, added regionally.
