Owner of a vast historical heritage, on the north border of Chapada Diamantina, Jacobina has plenty of beauty. Surrounded by hills, mountains and lakes, cut by beautiful rivers and waterfalls, the city is one of the most complete in all the state when it comes to sport and adventure. Trekking lovers, for instance, can go around the city enjoying the view and excellent spots for wild camping. In the region, there are innumerous trails, which include canyons, magnificent waterfalls, caves and sceneries that will amaze the adventurer. Check some of the main options:
Véu de Noiva Trail
Heading to Itaitu (Jacobina) this trail gives access to a beautiful waterfall with amazing 60 meters in height, suitable for swimming and rappel.
Bandeirantes Trail
This trail leaves from Bandeirantes Ecological Station, 8km away from Jacobina, cutting part of the Pinhão Mountain, with beautiful views. On the way we can see a large stretch of preserved forest and the encounter of many rivers, such as Charneca and Rio do Ouro, and also waterfalls like Amores, Jequitibá and Brito. There’s an even more exuberant part of the trail that allows the observation of secular trees and a visit to the ruins of São Miguel das Figuras Church, from the 18th century.
Payayás Trail
This trail is located at the city of Saúde, 44km away from Jacobina, flanking the river with several beaches of white fine sand. After walking for around one hour, adventurers find an exuberant waterfall, 40 meter high, which forms a big lagoon.
