It was really beautiful. On the first night of the samba school parades in Rio, Bahia’s uniqueness was presented to world by two of the main samba school of the special group of Rio’s Carnival: Portela and Imperatriz Leopoldinense.
Second school of this Sunday night, Portela enchanted the public with the songs and colors that represented Bahia; Portela also paid homage to the singer Clara Nunes, who would have been 70 years old this year and was represented by Vanessa da Mata.
In Rio or on TV, those who watched the parade could see the magic of Bahia’s culture that is present in the religious syncretism, the rhythm of Olodum and the musicality of All Saints’s Bay. The singer Daniela Mercury also participated in the parade.
The school Imperatriz Leopoldinense started the parade paying homage to the centenary of the writer Jorge Amado, through his works, inspired in Bahia’s universe.
The public applauded the presentation that enacted the adventures of the kids of the book “Capitães da Areia”, one of the most famous works of Jorge Amado. Some other characters like Gabriela and Dona Flor were also highlighted in form of sculptures.
